“I’ve tried various clutter clearing approaches over the years. But I’ve generally felt I was treading water, making small, incremental progress that seemed easily reversed. I especially couldn’t get traction on a large backlog of unsorted “stuff” in my attic: outdated electronics, old toys, miscellaneous personal junk, and boxes of belongings I’d had to rapidly move out of my parents’ home when they downsized and moved into assisted living. There was always too much to do downstairs first, and it felt like the weight of the attic was hanging over me.

Then my mother-in-law and my mother passed away within 14 months of each other.
